Learn sewing skills for daily life
Sewing Maker Program
The Sewing Maker Program is designed for adults who want to build confidence using a sewing machine for real, everyday skills—not fashion or dressmaking. This hands-on course focuses on machine handling, basic cutting, and creating practical fabric items for home and personal use.
Each session includes a complete, guided project—from tote bags and cushion covers to zip pouches and aprons. You’ll also learn core alteration techniques like hemming and shortening, so you can handle repairs and basic adjustments at home.
No sewing background needed. Just a desire to learn, make, and build life-long confidence with your own sewing machine.
- How to operate a sewing machine confidently and safely
- Measuring, marking, and cutting fabric accurately
- Straight and zigzag stitching, backstitch, edge finishing
- How to sew zippers, pockets, linings, straps, and bindings
- Hemming & shortening for simple alterations
- Pressing, trimming, and finishing for clean, professional results
Syllabus
You’ll complete 4–5 practical sewing projects during the program:
- Mini pin cushion
- Zipper pouch
- Cushion cover (envelope style)
- Reusable tote bag
- Apron with pocket
- Optional: final project of your choice (repeat or variation)
This course is for adults who want to sew confidently at home—not to design fashion, but to master basic, useful sewing tasks. It’s perfect if you:
- Are completely new to sewing
- Own or plan to use a sewing machine
- Want to repair clothes, make simple accessories, or gift handmade items
- Learn best through hands-on projects and guided support
